15-Minute Sesame & Ginger Stir Fried Couscous


For the Stir Fry:

  • 1 cup pearl couscous
  • 2 cups water or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt (for the couscous water)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (any color), thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 green onions, chopped (white and green parts separated)
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cups pre-cooked chicken, cut in cubes (optional!)
  • 1/3 cup Sesame & Ginger Oriental Sauce (adjust to taste)


  1. Cook the Pearl Couscous:
    • In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water or vegetable broth and 1 teaspoon salt to a boil.
    • Add the pearl couscous, reduce the heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes or until the couscous is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
    • Fluff with a fork and set aside.

  2. Stir Fry the Vegetables:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Add the garlic and the white parts of the green onions. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Add the red onion and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.
    • Add the carrot, bell pepper, and mushrooms if using. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

  3. Combine and Serve:
    • Reduce the heat to medium and add the cooked pearl couscous to the skillet, stirring to combine with the vegetables.
    • Add the pre-cooked chicken and stir to combine, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until the chicken is heated through.
    • Pour the Sesame & Ginger Oriental Sauce over the couscous, vegetables, and chicken. Stir continuously until everything is well-coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the green parts of the green onions.

Serve the stir fry hot, garnished with additional green onions or sesame seeds if desired.This dish is versatile, so feel free to add your favorite proteins such as tofu, beef, or shrimp for a more substantial meal.
